TEEN SUMMER READING CLUB EXTENSION AND PARTY!!!!

Dear "Teen Summer Reading Club" Participants,

Because I was informed today that the Children's Department is having their Summer Reading Club end THIS FRIDAY (8/14), I am allowing teens the opportunity to bring in their "bingo boards" through this Friday as well.
Also, don't forget that our party will be on Tuesday, August 18th from 6 -8 PM. There will be food, games, and I'll even be bringing in my "Wii" system from home. I hope you can make it!!!

Also, please give yourselves a round of applause. You'll all did a FABULOUS job participating in this year's club, and made our first summer using the "bingo boards" even more fun. You should all be really proud of yourselves; I know that I am. :)

Great job everyone!

Sincerely,
Denise Jukniewicz

"ONLINE BOOK REVIEW FORM"

Attention all Teen Summer
Reading Club Participants, don't forget to submit at least "1" Online Book Review to receive a stamp on your "Bingo Board" for that square, and also to have a chance to win a cool "raffle" prize!

Just click on the link provided below to submit your review. NO "personal" information will be posted on the Teen S.R.C. Blog. However, I will still be able to enter participants' names into the "raffle" prize drawing.

*****Because the 2009 "Teen Summer Reading Club" is officially over, the link to the blog has been suspended. 44 teens submitted really great reviews, and thanks to everyone I now have a lot of cool books that I would like to read. You all did a fantastic job and should be really proud of yourselves. I know that I am.

Sincerely,

THE TEEN SUMMER READING CLUB IS QUICKLY COMING TO A CLOSE.....

Attention all Teen Summer Reading Club participants,

Don't forget that next Friday, August 7th is the last day of the reading club. So make sure you bring your "bingo boards" in so I can check them and give you your prizes.

Also, I need to have at least one "bingo board" on file at the library, so you can be eligible for the "BIGGER" prize drawing. I have my weekly schedule posted on my desk of when I'll be available to check your boards. I do have a busy programming schedule this week and next, so I apologize if I am unavailable when you stop by. If that should happen, please feel free to leave your boards on my desk and I will check them as soon as I possibly can. If you need or want to leave them because you don't think you'll be able to stop by again before August 7th, that is perfectly fine. You will still be eligible for the "BIGGER" prize drawing, and then you can pick your smaller earned prizes (for "bingo") at your earliest convenience.

Happy Reading!!!!

Did Anyone Say "Let's Cook?!?!"

Teens had fun working together at the "Let's Cook!" program on Monday, July 20th and created the delicious dessert "Microwave Bread Pudding." A lot of people actually like to eat this dish with their breakfast as well. Here's the recipe we used:

"MICROWAVE BREAD PUDDING"

Cooking time: 12 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients:

6 slices White Bread, torn into small pieces
2 cups Milk
1 Tbsp. Butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 cups Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 cup Raisins

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Place the “torn” pieces of bread in a 9 inch (approximate) baking dish.
2. Beat the eggs in a separate small mixing bowl for about two minutes using a fork or whisk.
3. Heat the milk and butter in a medium sized mixing bowl on high power for 3 minutes.
4. Stir a small amount of the hot milk and melted butter into the bowl with the beaten eggs.
5. Pour the egg mixture into the bowl with the remaining hot milk and melted butter.
6. Add the sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and raisins.
7. Pour the mixture over the bread pieces.
8. Cook on high power for 7 minutes. Cook 2 minutes longer, if the center is not firm.

TOPPING FOR BREAD PUDDING:
“Caramel” or “Chocolate” Topping

Here Are Some Cool Activities That Teens Have Had Fun At!!!.....

These are some of the FABULOUS creations teens made when they came to the
"Wacky For Wikki Stix!" program on Monday, July 6th. They'll be on display over in the Young Adult section until the end of August. More cool designs can be found in the display case near the Young Adult section and Reference Desk so make sure to stop by and check them out.

Teens who participated in the "Puzzle Painting" program on Wednesday, July 8th re-created a famous painting. Our inspiration was a beautiful painting by Claude Monet called"Water Lilies" which he painted in 1916. Each teen got a "piece" of the painting and was asked to interpret it by drawing and painting it on individual sheets. Once the pieces had dried overnight, Denise J. the Young Adult Librarian proudly assembled them in the correct order. The finished painting will be on display in the Young Adult section until the end of August.
